From corporate girlie, to self-employed Brit abroad
Since I was a kid, I’ve been obsessed with creative communications; documenting holidays in tiny notepads and making my own mini magazines. At university, I was voted in as the publicity officer and wrote a travel blog, but my “official” marketing career began at IBM in London.
During my time in corporate life, I built expertise in marketing strategy, storytelling, and creative campaign delivery — leading everything from global comms projects to award-winning digital and AI-led campaigns, including the iconic IBM x Wimbledon partnership.
However, after 5 years living the work-hard, play-hard life in London, I was completely burnt out. I left IBM to travel solo around Southeast Asia!
When I returned (from the best year ever), I looked for full-time roles; however, COVID came along with other ideas, and I basically struggled to find a job.
And so I made some big, brave decisions. I moved to the Netherlands to be with my Dutch partner and went all in on self-employment.
For the past few years, I’ve loved working as a freelance marketing manager and consultant, helping busy business founders and leaders with marketing strategy and execution.
Introducing: your business cheerleader
Working for myself has had its ups and downs. There have been busy and slow periods, and uncertainty about my business direction. However, all my experiences have helped me work out what I love the most: helping people see and communicate their value and brand clearly, for their customers.
I absolutely love it in my workshops when something just clicks — a founder feels more confident, they see their true value, or they feel inspired. I’m that person who cheerleads business ideas and encourages friends and peers to take brave steps!
From networking, talking to women-led businesses, clients and peers, a few things are clear —
Today (in a world where we cannot escape AI, content and tech), marketing can feel overwhelming, it’s hard to articulate value, and when you’re responsible for the business and marketing, it’s often a struggle to stay customer-focused and consistent.
Empathy, expertise and execution: marketing that just makes sense
And today that’s my focus — bringing together my experience and empathy to make marketing simple, strategic and customer-focused.
I offer energetic and interactive strategy workshops, coaching and marketing services.
I help busy founders and leaders (who are also responsible for marketing) get clear on their messaging and implement straightforward marketing that builds a purposeful, impactful and profitable business they love and are proud of.
I’m on a mission to make marketing make sense — transforming the complex and overwhelming into clear, human-first strategies that connect and convert.
